Em, Jor and I all went for haircuts on Tuesday. I got 5 inches cut off, bringing my hair to just below my shoulders, Jori got 5 inches cut off bringing her hair to just above her shoulders and Em got her cute bob right below her ears. Poor Dad, he really likes long hair. It has been a huge debate in our house recently regarding the length of my hair. Jim likes it long, I am kind of tired of super long hair. He was ok with the cut, so it appears we have a compromise.
Besides the cuts, we have had somewhat of a busy week. Em had her first sewing lesson on Tuesday, she loved that! I am cleaning out closets in anticipation of spring, if it ever gets here. It is going to come someday, we hope.
Blessings for a great day and pray for our nation, we need prayer now more than ever.

I have very competitive girls
I am sitting here listening to Em and Jori play checkers together. Wow, they are really competitive. Lots of ha I got you, and no fair, I'm gonna get you! Other than that it has been a pretty quiet day, at least I think so, I wasn't home all morning and Jim did school with the girls.
I have sleeping snoring dogs, Jim is taking a nap and, well there is that checkers game going on.
It is snowing, ick, I am tired of winter. Em is begging for some fresh baked cinnamon bread, so I am going to accomodate her.

Poor Jori
My poor Jori girl, she was so miserable this morning, she ate breakfast on a tray in my bed. Hmmm, when was the last time I had breakfast in bed? She spent most of the morning in bed reading. Around mid morning she came down wondering why she wasn't doing school. She stated she wanted to do school. So at lunchtime she got out her sight word flashcards and went through them, but that wasn't good enough, so she then counted them, there are 232 flashcards. She told me they are good for phonics and math. Ha, she is so much smarter than me.
She read a lot this afternoon while Em worked her tail off in all her studies, back to the grind for her, she feels just fine.
Em was irritated she couldn't go to her first sewing class and sign language due to Jori being ill. She told me to bundle Jori up and we could wait in the car for her for two hours. I, as kindly as I could, explained that was not going to happen and we would catch up next week. That went over like a ton of bricks. Oh well, these things happen, why can't there be two of me on these days?

Surprise, Surprise
I can't believe it, Emmy woke up at noon, came downstairs, said good morning and announced she felt great. I informed her it was lunchtime and that I was happy she was feeling better. She went back up and took a shower. She got math, reading and language arts done and spent the rest of the afternoon taking care of her ailing sister. Checkers, reading etc. Very nice afternoon. I did laundry, gotta get rid of the sick germies. Everything washed in hot water today. Including the children. Ick!
And now all the girls in this house are not feeling well
Oh this is not good, Jori feels terrible, I feel terrible and Em still feels terrible. Jim stay away, or come home and take care of us. I'm not sure which. No school today, it's a reading day, that counts as school in this circumstance.
Jori is up in my bed reading Mercy Watson and Em is still asleep, I don't have the heart to wake her up yet.
I need some hot tea!

Em not feeling well
Emmy is not feeling well today and I'm not feeling much better, she hasn't felt great for a few days, but today she is pretty miserable. She and I stayed home from church while Jim and Jori went to church and Sunday school. Em and I are hanging out drinking orange juice, we both have sore throats and sore ears.
We were supposed to go to Grandma's today for February birthdays, but we will be staying home, we don't want to get anyone else sick.
Blessings today..............

Efficient school day
It's 1:00, we have eaten lunch, Jori and Jim just left to run some errands for me, Em and I are working on finishing up her school day. The girls want to get done quick as they have some friends coming over for a movie and then to a concert at church. I will be working, so once again, it is Dad and all the gals.
It is chilly out, all the dogs are laying around snoring, Em is sitting on the heating vent doing her reading. I am telling myself to get up and make cookies for Jim before I leave for work, I don't know that I will get it done though.

Oh my, I'm a facebook person now
I have finally joined the ranks of all you facebook people, I caved in and created an account. Now I am trying to figure all this out. Em feels facebook is silly because there are no stuffed animals involved(Webkinz). I'm not even going to try and explain it, because I don't really get it either.
School today went well, we got tons done, we are working on history tonight with Daddy.

Wet Rainy Day, Ugh!
Today is one wet rainy day, it seems like a rainy spring day although everything is still brown as it is winter.
Yesterday was a beautiful day. It was close to 70 on February 10th, so we called it too nice of a day to do school. We got out in the yard and cleaned up dog guano, 5 dogs make alot of guano all winter! The girls were super helpful, although I'm sure they would have rather been doing anything else.
After lunch we took Cowboy and Gabby for a walk while the girls rollerbladed all over the neighborhood. The girls decided that Cowboy and Gabby make good pulling dogs and had the dogs pulling them around. That lasted until Cowboy spotted a squirrel and took off with Em still holding on. Thankfully he didn't run any farther than the tree the squirrel ran up and Em managed to stay mostly upright.
We got home and played baseball on the driveway. Very funny and we found out the girls can hit!
So today we are back to school, we are taking it slow as we have all day and nothing to do until after dinner when the girls have Adventure Club(youth group) at their friends church, and I have Bible Study. We haven't started Awana at our church yet as the girls are really enjoying Adventure Club and it all happens on the same day.
School today is going very smoothly. we have Mozart playing quietly in the background, Em is working on multiples and factors and Jori is getting place value firmed up with some extra workbook pages. We are starting the Civil War today in History, I was able to get a movie from the library which we will watch while we eat lunch. We are studying birds in science just in time for spring, we just finished bats and have decided we are going to get some bat houses in our backyard with the hopes of getting some bats to eat our mosquitos.
With the weather the way it is I am going to get some baking done today. We need some dinner rolls for dinner tonight and the girls love bran muffins so I will get some done in time for the afternoon of reading.
Blessings for a wonderful rainy day........

Classical Music
This week we started playing classical music softly in the background during our school day. I am amazed at the difference in our day. Jori focuses so well and works so diligently with the music on. We have used it sporadically in the past, but have decided this week to use it constantly. The change is wonderful. It seems everyone thinks so much clearer and can pay attention much easier. I highly recommend it, especially those with kiddos needing some extra help with focusing.
We have had a great week, we have spent time with wonderful friends and Dad baked 5 loaves of bread, thanks honey! I am finding myself short on time for some of those things as my work schedule has been increased this month.
Jim went to the library for us yesterday and came home laughing as the librarian knows us by name now and was asking if we homeschooled as we get so many books out, particularly history books. I love the library, it saves me so much time and money.

I need to keep up on this blog more
When we started this blog we fully intended to journal everyday, as some of you know, that has not happened. Apparently I am somewhat busier than I thought. Weekends seem to be the worse, I can't seem to catch up, I am blaming it on working outside of my home, hummmmm, I will have to look more into that theory.
It is Monday night. Monday is our busiest day, for me it starts Sunday night with work, getting home very late, or very early, depends on your point of view, and after a few hours of sleep for me, we are up and moving. Co-op classes start at 9am, out the door by 8:15, done with co-op at noon, home, eat fast, on to skating, home and then on to work, another late or early night, agains depends on your personal opinion. My opinion, too late.
I would like to change Mondays, I would like to change everyday actually, maybe hanging out on a beach somewhere for the rest of our lives, but back to reality, that is not going to happen. So I will rely on Our Lord's strength to get me through the busy days and relish the lazy days home with my kiddos, Thank you Lord for the gift of homeschool!
I am the grateful daughter of Jesus, wife of my best friend, and Mom to my sweet babies!
