We are moving in to the classroom!

We started moving into the classroom yesterday and are still organizing today. I'm sure the organization will be a work in progress for a while. We are debating keeping the too large couch in there, I think it is too big, takes up too much room, the girls want it. We still need to get a table in here and Jim is going to paint on the chalkboard/dry erase board, we are deciding on which wall. That also depends on the couch. We didn't get any school done today and won't tomorrow either, but that is fine, the girls work so hard, we can easily make it up. I'm off to work midnights tonight, ugh.

God is so good!

It's coming along nicely

Wallpaper is down in the classroom! Yeah! Jim is patching the walls, they are in very bad shape. I am looking for paint colors, I am thinking a very light yellow. On one wall we are considering splitting the wall in half and painting a chalkboard on one side and a dry erase board on the other side. The girls are very excited about that! ok, so am I!
Em finished 4th grade language arts today, she is very happy, 5th grade here she comes. I am waiting for the books to arrive. Great job Emmy!

Wallpaper, UGH!

I spent the day today taking down wallpaper from the previous homeowner. When we moved into this house the entire house was wallpapered. We have been taking it down room by room. Today is the spare bedroom/classroom's turn. I really dislike wallpaper and I dislike taking it down even more. When this room is done there is only one more room with wallpaper, Jori's room, and she has informed me she likes her wallpaper and will not allow us to take it down. I will have to think on that......I would love to get it down and get her room painted. Another day.

On another note, soccer season is starting, the coaches are starting to call and practice starts in two weeks. I have two very excited soccer players in this house, they are outside kicking the ball around the yard as I type. It is a beautiful sunny day!

God's blessings.......

Spring Cleaning

We are in the midst of the large task of making the spare bedroom into a classroom. I can't wait for it to be done. While we are working on it, we are also spring cleaning, our neighbors are going to think we are moving, we are throwing away so much every garbage day. There is a lot of purging going on. I am getting in closets that haven't been cleaned out since last year. I also want to rearrrange the family room, of course Jim is not overly thrilled about that. One project at a time he is telling me. Poor guy, I think I am overloading him with spring projects.
We got our curriculum ordered this week, and just in time, Em will be done with most of 4th grade next week. I had already gotten some of what we needed, but this was the big core order. Should be here in a few weeks. Em is looking forward to spending some time creative writing and working on some poetry.

Happy Spring and God's blessings.......

We are finally getting a classroom, YEAH!!!!

JIm has started cleaning out the spare bedroom so we can have a classroom. We have been doing school in the kitchen for the last two years. I am so excited, no more school stuff in the kitchen, the laundry room and everywhere else in the house. It will all be housed in one cozy room! I don't know if we will actually do school upstairs or not, but at least that's where we will keep everything. There is already a comfy couch and a bookshelf in there, we will move the other bookshelves in there after the wallpaper comes down and the room is painted. Did I mention I am excited and can't wait for it all to be done? The girls are looking forward to it as well. I am trying to decide if we want a table in there or not. I will wait and see how it works out after all the school stuff is in there. Just another chapter in this journey we call homeschool. Thank you Lord for taking us on this journey, the Glory is all yours!

Very rainy Sunday

Jim is out back building the ark! Or he should be....instead he is at work serving and protecting, or at least attempting to keep dry. The girls and I had a wonderful morning of worship at church. We absolutely love our new church. We started attending Wheaton Bible about 2 months ago. Both girls love Sunday school and Jim and I are taking a beginners class. When we left church the rain was coming down in buckets, I got SOAKED going to get the car.
We are home now trying to dry out and eat lunch before Jim and the girls go back to church tonight. I unfortunately am going to work tonight.
Em is making her way through her Civil War homework and the rest of her Latin. Jori is hanging around waiting for Em to finish so they can play Monopoly. Tomorrow starts another week. Rejoice in the Lord and be Glad in Him!

Beautiful week, Rainy Saturday

The last few days were gorgeous, beautiful spring like days. Em and Jor played outside and decided to start cleaning out the flower beds, who am I to tell them no. Today is a chilly rainy day. Bummer, tomorrow it is going to rain as well.
We had a very productive school week. The girls are flying ahead with their lessons. I have noticed a huge improvement in Jori's reading, much more fluid. Em has gotten some very difficult math concepts down, I love to see that light bulb go off when she "gets it". We did go ahead and start the 5th and 3rd grade Language Arts Through Literature curriculum, I decided there was no point in waiting, no reason to hold them back.

I am making chicken soup, great on a chilly rainy day. Some homemade bisquits will complete the meal. Hopefully there will be enough for tomorrow as well.

Blessings for a great weekend.

Good busy weekend

Wow, it has been a whirlwind weekend and it isn't over yet.

Em and Jor spent Friday night and all day Saturday over at a friends house. While they were partying, Jim and I attended an excellent marriage conference in GlenEllyn. It was spectacular, we feel so refreshed and renewed. We praise God for the resources he has placed in our lives and we give him all the glory.
On to Sunday, Church and Sunday school for all, home now for a few hours, I am making supper while I type, and back to church this afternoon for a community meeting. We are hoping to get plugged into a group to serve our community through church.

Blessings to you on this Lord's day!
