The weather has been amazing the past two days. Yesterday we were outside by 8:30 am, we did school outside, Em did math in a tree, and Jori did most of her school in her "lair"(the top tower of the playset). Eventually we wound up on the trampoline. Today was much the same. We are just loving the warm weather!

Spring Break over for Ruff Christian Academy
And back to school we go. We took off the last week and a half for our spring break, we didn't take time off in March like everyone else did, we saved ours for our NC trip and then took the rest of last week off.
Em started with a bang doing two math lessons, we moved on to language arts, penmanship, science etc. History today was Jori reading aloud a biography on Thomas Edison, Jori was thrilled she could read to us and it also took care of her reading requirement for the day. Jori decided she wants to go the Edison invention museum and Em says absolutely not as she thinks Edison was a cruel person. Em will argue the point with anyone willing to listen/argue.
Jori stayed home from our last gym class as she was not feeling well, and Em is bummed gym is over for the summer.
If it ever warms up we can hit the beach, but right now warm temperatures are not here.
Blessings for a great week.......

Home Again
We arrived home late Tuesday night, tired and not at all ready to start a new week. We had a beautiful drive home, we went up through Virginia and West Virginia and enjoyed the drive through the mountains.
I went back to work Wednesday afternoon and Jim goes back Friday morning, however we still seem to be really busy. Jim is trying to fix the washing machine that stopped working before we left and working on the family room and laundry room spring cleaning. Em has a soccer game tonight and Jori has soccer practice, I am working midnights, ick....
We are going to take the rest of the week off of school and start up again next week. We all need the break..............

1 hour in Charlotte NC and off to the ER we go
We arrived in Charlotte NC at about 8pm on Thursday the 7th after a great drive in. By 9:30 we were on the way to the Emergency Room.
We were sitting out in the backyard getting to know one another again and had just commented on how quickly the kids hit it off when Zack came out to tell me that one of my daughters was gushin' blood all over the place upstairs.
It seems that Jori was hit in the head 4 times by a ceiling fan. Jori was on the top bunk of her cousins bed and leaned over the side into the ceiling fan, she was hit twice in the forehead, once on top of her head in her hair line and once in the nose. The gash on the upper part of her forehead was the worst and needed to be closed. We went, at great speed, to the ER at Matthews Presbyterian Hospital in Uncle Allan's policecar where we waited for three hours to see the doc. Once we got in, he was able to glue Jori's head back together. This was a big relief as she was certain she needed stitches. Glue is much less traumatic for a little one.
To her great chagrin, Jori was told she had to keep her head out of the swimming pool. She did a great job by paddling around and tried to keep her forehead dry. On Sunday, Mother's Day we relented and let her get her forehead wet. This made her very happy and the glue stayed on and so far so good.
(Sydney, Joriann, Emmy and Jessica)
Sunday afternoon Em managed to catch one of her cousins with her face and is now sporting a little shiner on her eye. Aunt Allyson's Dad says the girls need t-shirts that say "I survived North Carolina".
Its just part of the adventure of the trip and Im sure it will make great stories for a long time. We have even begun to scheme for some future trips together. Uncle Jim and Zachary are trying to put together a camping trip to the mountains somewhere.
Despite the bumps and bruises we are having a great time. The girls are loving playing with new cousins and we are enjoying getting to know our cousins again as well.
We will get some pictures posted when we get back to boring, flat, boring, cruddy, boring Illinois.

Very good Monday
We started out our day getting haircuts, then on to the garden. We got a ton planted, tomato plants, squash, zucchini, etc. We brought the girls friend Laura home for a sleepover. Then on to gym with all three girls. Laura brought her schoolwork with her and we will all do school tomorrow together then off to sign language. Jim will probably have to take them as I am pretty sure I will be in court, bummer, I really enjoy going to sign and hanging with the Mommies.
Jori has a soccer game tomorrow night and Em has soccer practice, so one of us will miss the game. Never a dull moment around here, and we enjoy every minute of it! The girls are loving having a sleepover in the middle of the week, they keep saying that is the beauty of homeschool, sleepovers in the middle of the week, then group school. I know we will get a lot of school done or else the girls know it won't happen again, good incentive!
God's Blessings for a wonderful week.....

Beautiful Saturday
It is a beautiful Saturday morning. Soccer games were cancelled today due to wet fields. So we are starting out our day with some quick math/phonic lessons and getting outside to enjoy the day. It is simply too nice to stay inside.
Enjoy this day the Lord has made...................

Working Hard
We are very diligently trying to get lots of schoolwork done now and taking advantage of the cool rainy days so when it gets warm out we can go to shorter days, and maybe only 3 days a week. The girls are cooperating and it is going well. I found a new website that has some great worksheets on it I can print off for the girls. Every different subject matter we can think of. We are having fun with that and using it to supplement. On average right now we are completing 2 lessons a day in every subject. I prefer to do it this way so we can enjoy the warm weather. Living in Illinois there isn't a ton of warm weather. We want to be out in it as much as possible.
Spring cleaning is going well, Jim has been very busy and has tossed or given away a ton of stuff. It is amazing how much stuff one family can have.
God's Blessings for a great weekend..........
